Absence/Excuse Policy

All schools are now required to be notified within five school days of the reason for a student’s absence. If a parent has not contacted the school office to clear an absence, the board policy, AR 1131, mandates that we change the absence to truant.

If a student has 5 full days of unexecused absences or 5 tardies over 30 minutes or any combination (EC 48260.5), they will receive a Letter of Truancy Notification.

Many parents are unaware that “going out of town” with their
children during school days is an unexcused absence and will result in a truancy letter and may also result in an appearance in front of the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) (Ed Code 48263). Please plan your trips during holidays and school breaks.

If your child has been absent from school, please use the form below to report it to the school office. Alternatively, you may call the office at 253-3571.

Please note, if your child is absent for consecutive days, you must report it EACH DAY.

If your child is tardy, please have them check-in at the office before going to class.
