On January 28th, Northwood's 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students competed in our 2nd annual spelling bee, which is a part of the Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition. The first round of the competition began in the classrooms. Then the four best spellers in each of the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades were selected to compete in the Northwood's 2nd annual spelling bee.

The following finalists competed:

3rd grade:  Amanda M., Andrew C., Jenna B. and Johnny T.

4th grade:  Lana M., Malia M., Thomas H. and Maya P.

5th Grade: Austin B., Gavin W., Kip C. and Zachary G.

The winner was Gavin W. with the winning word “casserole”. Gavin will go on to the next level of competition in San Francisco on February 20th.
